What are Qualified medical expenses?
Qualified medical expenses are healthcare costs defined by IRS Publication 502 that are primarily for the prevention or alleviation of physical or mental defects or illnesses, eligible for tax-free reimbursement from Health savings accounts and other tax-advantaged accounts. These expenses include doctor visits, prescription medications, dental care, vision care, mental health services, preventive care, diagnostic services, durable medical equipment, and certain long-term care insurance premiums. Expenses must not be reimbursed by insurance or other sources to qualify for tax-free treatment.
